What's the difference between mold removal and mold remediation?
The simple answer is that mold removal is merely a step in the process of mold remediation.
As with any mold remediation project it's very important to make sure that you're using the services of a state licensed mold professional. If you suspect that you have a mold problem or just have some questions regarding mold in general, please feel free to give us a call at 605-370-1990.
The Mold Remediation Process
Mold remediation is the process of removing and cleaning mold from your home or business. Mold removal is a term that gets associated with mold remediation. However, mold removal is just a step in the mold remediation process.
There are four main steps involved in the mold remediation process:
This first step is critical to contain the mold spores and prevent cross contamination to unaffected areas. This is accomplished by sealing off the affected areas with plastic sheeting.
With this step we are physically removing the mold from the affected areas. This step may include the removal of drywall, cabinets, and any other items where the mold exists. These items are bagged, sealed and properly disposed of.
This critical step is more than just a heavy vacuuming. The room should be placed under negative air so that all the air is captured and filtered by an air filtration device. A thorough cleaning will be performed to S520 guidelines using HEPA vacuums (note, these are not ShopVacs with a hepa filter!). Possible sealant on studs and/or framing and remaining structural items that are not discarded.
4) Post testing
Post testing should be performed by an independent third party testing firm. The testing will help determine the success of the remediation process. The post testing process will follow the same mold testing process that was done prior to the mold remediation being performed.

Can you believe that MOLD has it's own "awareness month"? I think it's something that the EPA started. Anyway...I don't think we need a "month" for it. I just feel that people shouldn't take it for granted. There is mold all around us. It just depends on where it is...to help you determine if you need to take action.
If it's in your home, let's get it looked at. It doesn't hurt to have us come out and take a look.
Mold can get started from any wet or damp area. And it doesn't take long. That's why it's important to get any wet, damp area cleaned up and dried up properly after any water damage. Yes...that's one of our specialties. We'd rather you get dried up fast, instead of have to deal with a mold problem.
Besides all the places you can see...mold can also grow under floors, behind walls, above ceiling tiles, or behind shower walls.
If you you'd like us to take a look at a potential mold problem, or if you suspect there may be a mold problem, let us know. You might not see anything, but there could be a musty odor.

Getting Wet Carpet Completely Dry
When your carpet has been soaked through, you may try to get it dry on your own. But you may want to consider calling a pro.
Here are a couple mistakes people make when doing it on their own...
Mistake #1: Believing that once the carpet on top is dry that everything is dry. But in reality, most of the water is in the pad underneath. That's the start of a nasty mold problem.
Mistake #2: You've been so focused on getting the carpet dry, you forget about the drywall and all the other surrounding walls. We'll test your walls to make sure everything is dry. And if they're not...we'll get them dry for you.
Hey, I get it. You might be a DIY kind of person. I've been that way all of my life. But I've learned what I'm good at...and when to call in a pro.
I'm in this world to help people in some way. And there's no better time to do that than after a disaster of some kind. You may have had water standing in your home, possibly a fire, etc., and it's emotional. It's hard on your nerves. That's why customer service and understanding of what you're going through is so important in my business. You want your life back to normal with as little extra stress as possible. We're going to provide that stress relief.
Another reason I started this company is because I've heard of too many awful experiences people have had with restoration companies. And it shouldn't be that way. I've been in the management and customer service business almost all of my life. Again, I'm here to help people. When you need help, don't hesitate to call us.
